Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his excitement as India celebrated a historic achievement at the 19th Asian Games in 2023. The Indian women’s kabaddi team secured a gold medal, pushing India’s total medal count past 100. This victory marked a significant moment for the country, and PM Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the athletes, acknowledging their remarkable performances that made history and filled the nation with pride.

PM Modi’s words reflected the collective pride of the nation, celebrating the dedication and excellence of Indian athletes. As the day progressed, India was set to secure even more medals, further enhancing this momentous achievement and showcasing the country’s prowess on the international sports stage.

Diverse Achievements: Medals Pour in Across Various Sports

India’s success wasn’t limited to kabaddi; medals were also earned in wrestling, archery, hockey, sepaktakraw, and bridge. The Prime Minister eagerly anticipated meeting the Asian Games contingent and interacting with the athletes on the 10th. India’s medal tally included 25 gold medals, 35 silver medals, and 40 bronze medals.

Proud Moment: India Surpasses Previous Records, Eyes More Medals

The Indian Air Force joined in the celebration, applauding the athletes for their outstanding achievements. The nation’s athletes had already assured five medals, surpassing India’s previous record of 70 medals from the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta. This marked only the second time India had crossed the 100-medal mark in international competitions like the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games.
