Maruti Suzuki is actively working to reduce the wait times for its popular car models like the Ertiga, Brezza, Swift, and Dzire. They’ve made significant progress in reducing the wait for their seven-seat MPV, the Ertiga, which has been a long-standing issue.
Maruti Suzuki Efforts to Reduce Waiting Times
Specifically, the CNG versions of the Ertiga had the longest waiting period, extending beyond a year until recently. Maruti Suzuki explained that this lengthy delay was due to a shortage of semiconductors and certain CNG-related components over the past three years.

Success in Ertiga’s CNG Variant
Now, Maruti has managed to increase the supply of these critical parts and ramp up production of the Ertiga, resulting in a reduced waiting period. The wait time for CNG versions has come down to about six to seven months from the previous year-long wait. However, it’s important to note that while they have made progress with CNG versions, it might take a bit more time to decrease waiting times for all their models.
Managing Overwhelming Demand and Model Adjustments
It’s worth mentioning that Maruti received an overwhelming response to the Ertiga, with almost 100,000 bookings, and in August, they had pending orders for 93,000 units. Interestingly, due to high demand and to prevent further delays for the three-row model, the badge-engineered version of the Ertiga, known as the Toyota Rumion CNG, had to temporarily halt new orders.
