Apple recently released iOS 17 alongside the new iPhone 15 series. This updated iPhone operating system comes with cool features, including a new one called NameDrop. NameDrop lets you share contact details with someone else’s iPhone by putting your phone close to theirs.

To use NameDrop, make sure both phones have AirDrop turned on in settings. Then, hold your iPhone near the other person’s device. A glow will show that the pairing is successful, and NameDrop will appear on both screens. You can choose to share or receive contacts. Remember, it only works for sharing new contacts, not updating existing ones.

To turn off NameDrop, go to settings, select General, then AirDrop, and toggle off the “Bringing Devices Together” option. Apple will also bring NameDrop to Apple Watch in a future update.

iOS 17 also brings other great features like StandBy Mode and Live Voicemail, which shows a real-time transcription of voicemails as the caller speaks. The Health app has new mental health features, Reminders can now show grocery lists, and there’s a new Apple Journal app. Plus, Offline Maps allow you to share AirTags and other Find My-enabled accessories with friends.
