BMW India has introduced the electric version of its X1 SUV, known as the iX1, in India with a price tag of Rs. 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks BMW’s fourth fully-electric vehicle in the country, and it will be available through the Completely Built-Up (CBU) route. Customers can make bookings for this electric SUV exclusively through BMW’s online platform, and deliveries are scheduled to commence from October 2023.
In terms of its appearance, the iX1 features a nearly square-shaped signature kidney grille with a noticeable ‘I’ identifier, adaptive LED headlights, and blue accents on the front and rear bumpers, as well as on the running boards. Additionally, its overall design closely resembles the traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the X1.
Buyers can select from four exterior colors: Alpine White, Space Silver, Black Sapphire, and Storm Bay. Furthermore, there’s a choice of upholstery between Veganza Perforated Mocha and Veganza Perforated Oyster.
As for its features, the iX1 is equipped with a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. It also boasts an M Sport leather steering wheel with a blue ring finisher logo, a Harman Kardon surround sound system with 12 speakers, active front seats with massage functions, and ambient lighting. Additionally, it offers dual-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate, and a floating armrest with storage.
The electric SUV is powered by 66.4 kWh battery pack, which assists the dual motors located on each axle in generating 309 bhp and 494 Nm of peak torque. It boasts claimed range of up to 440 kilometers according to WLTP standards and can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, with top speed of 180 km/h.
Fast charging is also strong suit, as 130 kW DC fast charger can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 29 minutes, while an 11 kW AC charger takes 6.3 hours to charge the battery from zero to 100 percent.
