A recent G20 guest magazine has referred to ‘Bharat’ as the “formal name” of the nation in the midst of the ongoing debate over ‘India vs. Bharat.’ The magazine’s second page stated, “Bharat is the official name of the country, as it is clearly mentioned in the Constitution and was also discussed during the years 1946-48.” This follows the change from ‘India’ to ‘Bharat’ on the nameplate of Prime Minister Modi during the G20 Summit held in Delhi.
