Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has responded sharply to the controversy surrounding use of ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the traditional ‘President of India’ on official dinner invitations for the upcoming G20 Summit.
He raised thought-provoking question, asking if the ruling party would consider renaming the country ‘BJP’ if the opposition alliance decided to call itself ‘Bharat,’ similar to the opposition coalition being called ‘I.N.D.I.A.’

Arvind Kejriwal’s Perspective on ‘Bharat’ Name Change
Kejriwal expressed his skepticism about such a name change, emphasizing that the country belongs to its 1.4 billion citizens, not just one political party. He questioned the reasoning behind altering the name from India to Bharat in the invitation and labeled this move as ‘treason.’ He also accused the BJP of making these changes out of fear of the alliance and remarked on the rich cultural heritage of India.
Furthermore, Kejriwal criticized the BJP for diverting attention from important issues like price rises and unemployment by focusing on the concept of ‘one nation, one election’ after the opposition announced their alliance.
Congress’ Concerns and the Opposition Alliance ‘I.N.D.I.A’
The controversy began when Congress raised concerns about the invitation referring to the President as ‘President of Bharat’ instead of ‘President of India.’ Several Congress leaders, including Jairam Ramesh, Manish Tewari, Shashi Tharoor, and KC Venugopal, shared snapshots of the invite on X (formerly Twitter). This development has sparked debates about the nation’s identity and unity.

Mr. Modi can continue to distort history and divide India, that is Bharat, that is a Union of States. But we will not be deterred.
After all, what is the objective of INDIA parties?
It is BHARAT—Bring Harmony, Amity, Reconciliation And Trust.
